The middle school grades (6 – 8) offer unique challenges and opportunities for students and parents. In a society that promotes “self-discovery,” the WECS Middle School program encourages students to understand themselves and the world around them in light of the only unchangeable truth – God.
Small class sizes allow teachers to work with students individually as they grow academically, spiritually, emotionally, and socially. Professional, experienced teachers use a variety of instructional methods to create a vigorous and enjoyable learning environment, and intentional Biblical integration provides the filter of a Christian life and world view in every subject area.
A standard middle school class schedule includes Bible, math, literature, language arts, science, history, and physical education. Students change classes on a 51-minute bell schedule and use an agenda/notebook system designed to teach organization and time-management skills.
Students have the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular sports programs such as soccer, basketball, and volleyball. Students may also participate in the Fall Festival, community service projects, and a rotation of yearly special events, including science fairs, speech meets, writing competitions, and other enrichment activities.
The middle school program at WECS seeks to prepare student for the rigors of high school by offering academic excellence with a Christian life and world view.
