Boys Varsity Soccer

 

West End dominated Evangel 9-0 with Jesse Moore leading the scoring with 4 goals; beat Carmel 13-0 with 5 players scoring a pair of goals; beat Grave Ave. 13-0 behind Cody Moore with 4 goals and Vincent Brown with 3.

We pulled away from Banner Christian in the second half to win 6-3. Brown had a hat trick and josh Wiley 2 goals. We then were overmatched by Richmond Christian 10-2, lost to Spirit Athletics 7-2, before beating New Community 6-2 behind 3 goals from C.Moore. Central Virginia Home School beat us 8-3, C.Moore had 3 assists. We blasted Evangel Christian again 9-1 as Jesse had 4 goals. We outscored Spirit Athletics in a thriller, 8-6, Cody getting 3 goals, Jesse 2, and Vincent had 2 assists. We switched things around in a big win over Grove Ave. as Booby Devers, Josh Criswell and eric Adjei-Danquah had 2 goals each. Then after a 9-1 pasting from Williamsbur Christian, we tariled CVHS 5-0 at half but came storming back to lose just 6-4. We tied Victory Christian 3-3 with Jesse scoring 2 goals, tied Banner Christian 5-5 with Josh Wiley scoring 2 goals and Jesse having 2 assists. We rolled over Evangel in the first round of the tournament with Timmy Warthan leading with 2 goals. We then lost to Spirit Athletics 7-3, Josh led with 2 goals. Jon Wiley led with 2 goals as we beat Victory Christian 4-1 to take third place. The Crusaders then traveled to Richmond to participate in the New Community Invitational Tournament. We knocked off the host team Sabers 5-2, behind 4 goals from Josh and 2 assists from Cody. We then fell short of Trinity Episcopal 6-3 as Cody and Vincent scored on feeds from Timmy and Timmy threw a sideline throw off the Keeper for the other score.

Josh Wiley scored 24 goals to lead the Crusaders in scoring, Jesse Moore and Cody Moore had 21 goals each, and Vincent Brown had 17, Mason McQuage 6, Tim Warthan and Jon Wiley 4, Bobby Devers and Nic Sulc with 3 each, Josh Criswell 2, Brandon Beale 2, Eric Adjei-Danquah 2, , Rory Lavallee 2 and Josh Criswell 1.

Cody Moore led the team with12 assists, Tim warthan had 9, Vincent Brown and Jesse Moore had 7 each, Mason MCquage and Josh Wiley 2 each, Nic Sulc, Alex Bridger, Jon Wiley and Joseph paul, all had an assist each. Alex Bridger did an outstanding job as Keeper, and Bryan Sides had some good games in goal coming off the bench. Dustin Hess, Jareb Burnett and Ethan McCoig filled in well on defense.

West End finished in third place in the VCAA with a conference record of [8-3-2] and overall record of [12-7-2].

 

The boys Varsity finished with a [19-1-0] record, winning the VCAA conference, and beating Central Va. Home School 5-2 in the tournament final, to win the tournament also.

 

The Crusaders also beat New Community 6-1 to win the New Community Invitational Tournament. Eric Beale, Scott Young, Chase Taylor and Cody Moore were named all conference, Brandon Ketron was named co-player of the year for the VCAA conference. Manuel Wallace was selected as the MVP for the VCAA tournament, Brandon Ketron was named MVP of the New Community Tournament, Bobby Devers, Ketron, Beale, and taylor, were all named to the NCIT tournament team.

 

Scoring for the year was Brandon Ketron setting a new school record with 47 goals in 19 games, Chase Taylor 18 goals, Eric Beale 13, Josh Wiley 12, Cody Moore 11, Jon Wiley 10, Jesse Moore 7, Garryt Bryant 6, Vincent Brown 6, Manuel Wallace 6, Dave Dixon 4, Scott Young 4, Bobby Devers 3, Reggie Brown 3, Josh Criswell 2, Trevor Jones 2, Rory Lavalle 2, Alex Bridger 1, Nic Sulc 1, and Tim Warthan 1. Leading the team in assists was Taylor with 14, Ketron 11, C.Moore 9, Beale 9, J.Moore 7, and Js.Wiley 5 as leaders.

 

Lost to Williamsburg Christian  4-1  [Brandon Ketron- goal];   beat Evangel Christian  8-4  [Chase Taylor- 3 goals, Cody Moore- 2 goals, 2 assists, Eric Beale- 2 goals, Brandon Ketron- goal, Jesse Moore- assist].

 

Beat Banner Christian 8-1 [Chase Taylor 4, Eric Beale 2, Jesse Moore and Bobby Devers all scored goals];   beat Spirit Athletics 4-3 [Brandon Ketron 3, Jesse Moore- game winning goal, Dave Dixon 11 saves]; improves record to [7-0-0] in the VCAA, and [8-0-0] overall.

 

Beat Carmel  Christian 20-0;  beat Central Va. Home school 4-2 [Brandon Ketron scored 4 goals]; beat Spirit Athletics Home School 5-1  [Ketron 2 goals, Cody Moore and Vincent Brown one goal each, plus Spirit kicked one in for us]. The Crusaders are now in first place in the VCAA conference, with a 6-0  record.
